| PERSONALITY: Hyperactive, spastic, random, and childlike are four common words used to describe Kusajishi Yachiru. Cheerful and energetic, Yachiru is often seen as the small person clinging to the shoulder of Zaraki Kenpachi. Surprisingly intimidating at times, she does not understand concepts such as fear or treating people differently based on class. She either loves you or she hates you, and you always will know where you stand with this pink-haired firecracker. When angered, Yachiru has been known to display ridiculously high levels of reaitsu which form a demon-cat-like face behind her. She reacts badly to criticism and tends to attack those who insult her or her division. While she is very open and blunt she is good at hiding behind Kenpachi's reaitsu and not revealing her presence until a good reason presents itself. While Yachiru appears to be physically around 6-8 years of age she is a lot stronger than she looks. She can lift up and run with Kenpachi when he is unconscious, she is known for her fighting prowess as a member of division 11 as vice captain, and she is also the Head of the Shinigami Women's Association. BACKGROUND: An orphan shortly after her birth, Yachiru was just another nameless child in the Kusajishi district of Rukongai on the day she was found by Zaraki Kenpachi. Her parents were murdered by bandits, who were then killed by Kenpachi while Yachiru sat oblivious nearby, only revealing herself after Kenpachi had sat down to rest. Upon realizing the small child had no family, and possibly no fear considering the way she began to reach her blood-stained hands towards his sword, he decided to take the child with her. Naming her Yachiru, the name of the one person who mattered to him, Kenpachi traveled with the young girl all the way through the districts of Rukongai to Seireitai. When Kenpachi, Yachiru, Ikkaku, and Yumichika (the two companions they met along the way) reached Seireitai Kenpachi quickly established his dominance by defeating the current captain of the 11th Division of the Gotei 13. When he was made captain after the fight he installed Yachiru as his vice-captain. There are some who feel that Kenpachi is not good role-model material for a young girl but many keep their comments to themselves. TIMELINE: Yachiru will be coming in shortly after the fight Kenpachi had with Nnoitra in the manga. It is her most recent appearance to date. |

| "I remember everything about the day we met, Kenchan! I even remember how many clouds there were in the sky that day!" On the most important day of Kusajishi Yachiru's life the sky was filled will fluffy clouds. The ground was covered in blood, but she was still smiling and happy. Death and destruction surrounded her, and yet still she wanted to play. She could see herself, pleasant and hyperactive even when faced with the fearsome giant who had saved her life. She reached towards the giant's blood-stained sword; his gruff voice ordering her away as she blithely ignored him. Most would cower in fear before the man, especially after witnessing the wholesale destruction he had so effortlessly wrought. She simply grinned and moved closer, as if already convinced he was her savior. Once he realized the persistent toddler would not be deterred, the giant man known as Zaraki Kenpachi picked her up, taking her with him into a brighter future. While she could barely speak, he was able to teach her the name he had decided to bestow upon her, and she could feel the pride with which she spoke it radiating in her small, chirping voice. It was on that day that she became somebody, as well as when she found her special person. That was the day she truly was born. |
